Thunderbird Country
Club
70612 HWY 111
Rancho Mirage, CA
Status: Private
Course: 18 Holes
One of the oldest courses
in the valley and the namesake for the Ford Thunderbird,
Thunderbird C.C. and its surrounding custom home
communities offer a variety of real estate architecture,
views and valley history. Built in 1952 by John
Dawson, the 18-hole championship golf course was
the original track for The Desert Challenge - A
tournament which would later be known as The Bob
Hope Chrysler Classic. Real estate within the Thunderbird
C.C. is mixed architecturally with styles spanning
a spectrum from '60s Neutra minimalism to classical
Mediterranean to newly-constructed statements of
modern design. Though fairwayside homes at Thunderbird
lie on relatively flat terrain, areas such as Thunderbird
Heights, Thunderbird Cove and Thunderbird Villas
offer homes and lots that are incorporated into
the hillside and consequently deliver some of the
most dramatic and panoramic valley views available.
